Aino Maina is a very special and beautiful township for many reasons. Perhaps the most important for us is that it was built with the intentions of goodness and wanting to give to us Afghans the very opportunities that existed outside of Afghanistan. For this, we are grateful to AFCO’s founders, especially Mr. Hamid Helmandi who sought to recreate for us that which he had created for others in Los Angeles California. With integrity and honesty.
We are currently facing many challenge in all these areas, especially water, which you will learn more about in the section “Aino Bibi’s Voice.”
In order to identify and resolve these challenges, we are proud to announce the Aino Maina Environmental Protection Campaign led by AFCO’s Mr. Hamid Helmandi and Human Resource Development Agency, (HRDA), an organization led by Mr. S. Abdul Hai as its Director and Mohammad Saeed Fazli as deputy director, dedicated to advocacy, capacity-building, human empowerment and sustainable development through their programs and initiatives across Afghanistan.
Partnership with HRDA
Human Resource Development Agency (HRDA) is a duly registered NGO led by Mr. S. Abdul Hai as its Director and Mohammad Saeed Fazli as its deputy director who specializes in environmental affairs. As an organization they are dedicated to advocacy, capacity-building, human empowerment and sustainable development through their programs and initiatives across Afghanistan.
We are proud to announce that HRDA and AFCO International have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, through which the two parties will work voluntarily for the betterment of Aino Mena. Their activities will be focused on areas that include water conservation, efficient water usage, trash recycling township cleanliness, and green area protection.
Green Areas Protection and Maintenance
According to the master plan of Aino Maina, we must have at least one green area near every residential area.
Green areas offer health benefits, beautifies a community, encourages outdoor exercise and physical activity, and mitigates pollution. Many residents have suggested a bike trail in Aino Maina which we will be pursuing with the developers.
With Aino Maina’s population of more than 250,000 people, it is imperative that there is attention to the green areas as means of mitigating pollution and keeping the air cool at the backdrop of water challenges.
The sale of green areas is strictly prohibited. For green areas that have been sold, we are taking action on behalf of the community.
Water Conservation
Water Conservation is the practice of efficiently preserving, controlling, and managing water resources.
From the very beginning, Mr.Hemandi and his productive team members have aimed to bring the latest modern water conservation systems to Aino Maina, including but not limited to:
- Raising awareness of water conservation
- Maintain and improve the quality of water
- Encourage natural regeneration of vegetation and supplement with artificial regeneration
- Sustainable water usage
- Rainwater harvesting
- Wastewater Recycling
Underground Water
We all know how important is groundwater to all afghans. Groundwater in Afghanistan is the only major resource of clean and pure water. Keeping our Groundwater clean and raising our underground water levels is a right of our township that has been afforded by the developers of Aino Maina.
Since Mr. Helmandi has returned to his project, we are witnessing his keen attention to resolving our water challenges that have come into being since the project was hijacked in 2018.
